Farley Mowat, author of several autobiographical works, once said, " i 've been told that if you don't write novels, you're not a writer. I'm not a novelist." To this i can only say: Farley Mowat does not need to be.
Which of the following expesses the point the author of the passage above makes?
A Farley Mowat was a novelist, his protesttations to the contrary notwithstanding.
B Merely being a novelist does not make someone a writer.
C Farley Mowat never needed to write novels in order to make a living
D Farley Mowat fully deserves to be called a writer on the strength of his published works.
E Farley Mowat’s work neither fully falls under nor full falls outside of the category of the novel.

I think it's D. I'll try to explain.
Farley Mowat says that even though he is not a novelist, he is a writer.
The author of the argument, says the same thing. Farley doesn't need to be a novelist to be a writer. Hence, D.

Only B & D are close.........would go with D....since, the last sentence reiterates the fact that one does not need to be a novelist to be a writer...!!
