Few questions before I take the GMAT! [#permalink]
16 Mar 2010, 10:16
I am going to take the GMAT next week. I have got few questions about the test.
Option to send scores to 5 schools
Q1: Do I need to memorize the codes for the colleges? Or is there a drop down or search feature to select the schools to send the scores to?
Q2: In case, the college code cannot be searched or selected, can I take a piece of paper with the college codes to the exam center?
Q3: If I retake the exam, say after a month or so, can I report the scores to the same colleges again?
Confirmation of the Last Question
Q4: Is it necessary to CONFIRM the answer to the last question on Verbal and Quant? Will the test application confirm the answer that I have marked (and not explicitly confirmed)?
Q5: For AWA, will it consider whatever I have typed when the time expires?
Review Answers Q6: Can I review the answers after the test the way I can do in GmatPrep?
Wish me Luck!
Thanks, Rohit

Q1. No memorization required, there will be drop down selection. Worked flawless for me. Q2. I do not know for sure, but I HIGHLY doubt they will allow you to bring a piece of paper in. Q3. Yes, you may. Q4. As long as you picked an answer you will be ok, confirmation is not required for the last question Q5. Nope Q6. Absolutely not, sorry man. After the test, there will be a couple of voluntary screens you can fill in with info about yourself (or leave it blank) and then finally you will get to the screen that asks you if you want to report your scores or not. Click yes and your scores will be reported and within a couple seconds you will see your Quant and Verbal breakdown as well as the composite score. hope this helps

Thank you so much. Correct me if I am wrong -Q4: For Quant and Verbal, I can mark the answer and let the time expire. The test app would automatically confirm the marked answer. While searching for Q4, I found this post - [ http://gmatclub.com/forum/700-42804.html?highlight=felt+bad+a+little+that+I+did+not+confirmed+the+last+answer]. He says he regrets not confirming the last answer. Q5: So for AWA, I have to confirm the answer. Else the essay will not be marked. ThomasD wrote: Q1. I remember reading a post by bb somewhere where he said that the test will take whatever you have written for the AWA if you do not hit confirm. The same is true for the last questions on the Quant and Verbal sections. There's no way that they'll let you take in a piece of paper with you. You search the schools by name and then the code follows suit. No need to memorize codes.

See responses below. Best of luck, rohityes wrote: I am going to take the GMAT next week. I have got few questions about the test.
Option to send scores to 5 schools
Q1: Do I need to memorize the codes for the colleges? Or is there a drop down or search feature to select the schools to send the scores to? No, you search for the schools
Q2: In case, the college code cannot be searched or selected, can I take a piece of paper with the college codes to the exam center? No, codes are no longer used. You should have no issues finding the school you are looking for.
Q3: If I retake the exam, say after a month or so, can I report the scores to the same colleges again? Yes (FYI: the min window for re-taking is a month)
Confirmation of the Last Question
Q4: Is it necessary to CONFIRM the answer to the last question on Verbal and Quant? Will the test application confirm the answer that I have marked (and not explicitly confirmed)? I wouldn't risk it and confirm. Some people say it's ok not to confirm on the last question, but I would not take the risk.
Q5: For AWA, will it consider whatever I have typed when the time expires? Yes
Review Answers Q6: Can I review the answers after the test the way I can do in GmatPrep? No. Questions are owned by the GMAC and you agree (if you take the GMAT) not to report any information you see in the test outside of the test. You will only receive your score, no breakdown on right/wrong.
Wish me Luck!
Thanks, Rohit

I probably need to rephrase my answer to Q5 really quick, my take is it takes whatever you have written down when the time expires. If you just at very last second try to copy and paste stuff around, you may end up with parts missing. So same thing as mohater and perseverance are saying. I initially understood you wrong thinking you were asking if it would consider things you typed after the time was out - dunno what I was thinking here....
