A little offtopic. I want to spend the next few months reading a little about Finance and Investing. I am as bad at Finance as I am at singing (to give you a perspective  ). So, does any Finance God have any book recommendation for me? A Finance 101 kind of a book.

Start with these 2 websites:

http://pages.stern.nyu.edu/~adamodar/

http://www.investopedia.com

They'll give you a really nice start (Damodaran for Corporate Finance and Investopedia for general finance/investing). As far as books, I suppose you have to be more specific about what realm of Finance you would like the book to cover. Perhaps others may have some good suggestions?

Check this book out -- it is inexpensive and will give you a broad overview of the sort of stuff you will learn in your first year of b-school. If this is not what you had in mind, give me a more specific request and I will make another suggestion.

Also, any finance 101 book from a local university book store should be more than sufficient.

This is a great suggestion. I still have my Corporate Finance textbook from college in my desk drawer at work.

Do you know any of the professors who will be teaching your Corporate Finance course? If so, you might want to find books that they have written. Currently, I am readin "Value Investing" by Professor Greenwald, who is one of the premiere faculty in the Value Investing program at Columbia.

mNeo, what part of Finance do you want to read about?

Corporate Finance, Derivatives, Financial Markets?

One suggestion is to see what the text books for GSB’s classes are, I believe you can see that on the syllabus of each class.
