Hi All,

I just came back from the center and scored a 720 (Q50, V36).
Thanks everybody for all the help in clearing doubts.

Happy with the score but I am in total confusion. I wanted 51 in quant but scored only 50 as I always scored 51 in all the prep tests but I saw some tricky questions. Finished it the last second (however i could manage within 65 mins in all prep tests)
I am an engineer from India with 4 years exp, so you can imagine the expectation from the maths.
Also the verbal score is below the expectation as I have been scoring in early 40's.

SHOULD I RETAKE THE TEST TO TAKE IT TO 740-750.
I plan to apply to the elite and ultra elite

I gave a lot of tests with scores as under (MG is Manhattan GMAT):-
Power Prep 1 700 51 31
MG1 720 51 37
MG2 730 50 40
GMAT PREP 1 740 51 38
MG3 720 50 38
Kaplan1 (K3) 700 55 30
Kaplan 2 (LinearP2) 700 47 40
Kaplan 3 (K4) 720 55 33
Kaplan 4(K5) 780 55 51
GMAT PREP 2 710 51 34
MG4 770 51 44
Kaplan 5(K6) 770 55 48
MG5 700 51 35
MG6 780 51 45
GMAT PREP 2 (revise) 760 51 41
GMAT PREP 1 (Revise) 760 51 41

Also where will a score of something like Q51, V38-39 take me from the existing???

Thanks.

Your quant is very consistent at 51-50.

Your verbal in your actual GMAT looks significantly lower than your prep CATs (although you do have a huge variation there). I would say retake it. Your verbal is unlikely to go lower while having a high chance of improving. You have very little downside and so much upside potential.

Why be satisfied with 720 when you'd very likely score above 750 if your verbal improved to a reasonable 40-42? Plus you unfortunately fall into the "lndian Quant guy" category. Q50-51 are a dime a dozen just because statistically, you guys do well in quant. However, having a high verbal score is so much rarer and would stand you out from your peers, especially if you're applying to the "uber elite"

Hi!
First of all, congrats - 720 is a very good score!
If you were to get a score of Q:51 and V: 39, I'd estimate your overall score to be 740. I don't think it's a very wise to take the test again for a 20 point increment.

However, if you set your sights a little higher (Q:51 and V: 42), you're likely to score a 760! Now, that can make a real difference

If you're confident about hitting the 42 mark, I say go for it!

: Good Luck!

In case you're going for a re-take, I suggest you take it 30 to 45 days from now and work on your verbal while you're still in touch with the quant concepts

Hi timeishere.

First of all congrats for the amazing score.
Secondly, if you really feel that you can hit a 40+ in verbal then I would suggest you to have a one more shot at it. That would take your score to 740 or 750.

Thirdly, GMAT have announced a standard deviation of +/- 30 points. So that means if you go and score 750 then it is as good as 720. So I would suggest you to put more effort in apps and make them stand apart. And apps normally take a lot of time. You really need to dig in for them.

Finally it's your call but take a very wise call here.
