Re: First Interview - Good Idea? [#permalink]
September 12th. That is the first day of visits and interviews. The registration opened this morning so there are still lots of slots open!

When is it? I am planning on heading up to Tuck soon as well to interview (hopefully first few weeks of Sept if there is availability).

So I registered for an applicant-initiated interview on campus at Tuck. It turns out I will be their first interview of the 2008-2009 application season. That is ALOT of pressure on me. Do you guys think it is a good or bad idea to be their first interview????? I'm nervous.

I almost think this could work in your favor - you'll be remembered as that "first guy", will be setting the bar for the rest of us who have to interview after you - don't worry about it!

LOL-Good luck! Is it with a 2Y student or adcom? Or do you not know until you get there? Either way, going first will benfit you. You will definitely be remembered, as opposed to applicant #347.

Wow Tuck interview registration is already open? I guess I need to figure out a good date and get registered. I'm thinking Tuck is a great place for a first interview - as in before you interview with your other schools - since it's a strict 30 minutes with no chance of going way over like an alum interview and it's done by super friendly Tuck second years (unless you have crummy luck and get the one guy at Tuck that's a jerk - which I'm sure I will)

So for those of you planning your interviews, will that be the first time you visit Tuck? Or have you already visited Tuck and this trip is solely for the interview?

cheers,
ac.

I visited last April so this will be my second trip. I'll still take advantage of the class visit, lunch and the opportunity to talk to other students.

You just need to recruit some really weak people (perhaps the homeless guy from Happy Gilmore) to interview after you, then they'll think, man was that first guy good, we better give him an offer right away.

I'm sure interviewing first will be fine.

I was going to apply to Tuck R2 and hold off the interview until mid-Nov, but I just snagged a spot on the 22nd of October. Since their R1 deadline isn't until Nov 12th, I might try for an R1 submission.

I figure if I can't interview well by late October, how much better will I be less than a month later?
