Hi
I got my gmat and I need to take Toefl in 1,5 months. I need a 105, which is a tough score. This is my first time essay in toefl. I do not know how to write. Any insightful evaluation will be awarded with kudos. Thanks a lot.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Both parents should have an equal responsibility in child rearing.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Some people think that both parents should have an equal responsibility in child rearing , because they argue that today's developed world man and woman are equal alike. They both work , and provide money for a living. Others think that women should have more responsible in child rearing , because women are more prone to child rearing and they are much better than men in child rearing.

The issue is a controversial one, but in my opinion a closer examination reveals that I do agree with the idea that men and women should have an equal responsibility for several reasons. In this essay I will explain my position providing examples to support my claims.

One reason is that in today's world men and women have both equal roles in everyday life. For example,in many families both men and women work.
Clearly, rearing a child together will benefit both the parents in that they will have time to rest.

Another reason is equal responsibility on rearing a child will adhere to both parents emotionally.
To illustrate this point, let's take the example of a child only making activities with his father , child will feel more affection to his/her father. Therefore, I believe, rearing a child with equal responsibility will provide a balanced affection to his/her parents and thus both parents will benefit from that.

On the other hand, some may argue that mother should hold more responsibility in child rearing, because women have more instinctive and natural features than men . These individuals may point to examples of historical role of a women in child rearing and emotional ties between the child and the mother However, clearly, these individuals are wrong, because the research shows that this instinct and emotional ties exist between father-daughter and mother-son.

In summary, while there are arguments to be made for both sides, it is clear that there are greater advantages of rearing a child with equal responsibility. Because of the above mentioned reasons, child will provide a balanced affection to his/her parents, and parents will not only have more time devote leisure activities, but also feel their child affection equally.
