The OA is A.

I chose E, brought, on my first try. The part that confused me was the tense.

"the eagles LEFT... sucessfully RAISED..."

Why does the sentence not use Simple Past?

My SC sucks, thanks for being patient.

E says that the action of leaving the nests and bringing the no. to 34 are separate ideas due to the word 'and'.
It is the whole action of leaving the nests that brings the no. to 34.

So A is appropriate modifying the whole preceding clause...Hope it helps.
