x - price of dress #6 -> average = (x+5*96)/6 = x - 30 -> x*(5/6)=5*96/6+30 -> x = 96+30*6/5=96+36=132 -> B

I have something different. I got D (102).

96=x/5
x= 480

480+A+30/6 = A
510+A/6=A
A=102

132.

102 is the average price, question says that the 6th woman paid $30 more than the average, so we have 102+30=132 Manager Joined: 05 Feb 2007 Posts: 141 Followers: 1 Kudos [?]: 7 [0], given: 7 Re: Please help me on this one. average [#permalink] 03 Mar 2008, 09:51 pmenon wrote: 132. 102 is the average price, question says that the 6th woman paid$30 more than the average, so we have 102+30=132

Original sum : 5*96=480. Now the 6th's womens dress is x.

new avg: (480+x)/6=z we know x=z+30. now its (480+z+30)/6=6z. Just solve.

Now we want X so 102+30 = 132
