I know people would like to write formulas to solve this. I prefer plugging. Say beth is 65 today.

"Five years ago, Beth's age was three times that of Amy."
five years ago, beth was 60, amy was 20. Today beth is 65, amy is 25.

"Ten years ago, Beth's age was one half that of Chelsea"
Ten years ago beth was 55, chelsea was 110. Today, beth is 65, Chelsea is 120.

Find amy's age:
(A) c/6 +5 -- 120/6+5. 25. correct.

None of the other answers work out.

Alright, shubhangi, I'll do it myself the long way:

B-5=3(a-5)
2(B-10)=C-10

And solve for A in terms of C.
