Florida International University (FIU) or Ohio University [#permalink] New post 18 Jan 2013, 21:11
Please help. Which one looks like a stronger choice as in stronger courses?

I know, I know. I am not looking at top 20 schools here. First, I only had a 3.3 undergraduate gpa, studied Sport Management, do not really want to take the GMAT, and looking to do a AACSB accredited online program.

With all that being said, which curriculum looks like the more challenging and better suited for real world environments?

I am partial to FIU as I am an alum and LOVE FIU. Received a great education and enjoyed my time there. The problem is FIU online program is just a general MBA while, Ohio University has specialties within their MBA program. That is the problem I have with FIUs program.

FIU MBA Courses: If you go to FIUs online corporate MBA website, it will give you a detail description of each course. I can not paste the link as I have no been on here for 5 days.

Hi! Sounds like you are looking for an online MBA, is that right?

I think the specialization vs. not specialization is not a BIG issue.
P.S. is is really tough to tell which one is better just based on the curriculum. Professors play a huge role and also the school itself. You probably care for a good education but you would want to get a job at the end too, right? If one can promise you a job, you would have probably taken it....

If I were in your shoes, I would go with FIU (or there are other online programs such as the top 20 UNC MBA).... they are a bit more expensive though.

Good Luck!

I truly do appreciate the response on this.

Yes, I am looking for Online MBA programs that are AACSB accredited and Gmat not required.

Is there any other universities you can think of that may fit what I am looking for?

Also, is there any reason why you would choose FIU over Ohio University for their online MBA?

Lastly, to answer your question:

"You probably care for a good education but you would want to get a job at the end too, right? If one can promise you a job, you would have probably taken it..."

Absolutely.

The online MBA world is slightly sketchy as it does not take much cost or other barriers (AACSB accreditation is one) to start a program. I would recommend looking into programs that DO require GMAT. (they do at least some filtering of their applicants). Even if the scores are low, you know the average level of your classmates.

I think Drexel and Temple (both in Philly) will waive GMAT for applicants with significant WE. I'd also suggest looking into UNC or Indiana's online MBAs... it may be a little more painful to get in but you'd get the name of a respected business school on your resume.
