Following up on Submitted Application [#permalink] New post 31 Dec 2010, 00:52
Dear Admissions Experts,

I would like to hear your quick advice on following up on submitted online application with an email .... and mentioning briefly a tiny piece of potentially critical information that one forgot to include in the application.

After submitting my online application to a competitive US school, I totally forgot to mention my involvement with the local alumni chapter from my undergraduate school. Now I wasn't the president of the chapter or anything just a participating member, but I read somewhere that this school would have really wanted to hear about it. :(

I know that all schools discourage (probably loathe) applicants following up on completed application. This is understandable. But generally speaking, what if you miss something really important?

Thanks!

I think you hit it on the head right there. It will reflect negatively on you if you send that email because you weren't able to put out your best application when you submitted. Also, you said you didn't have a leadership role in the club--just attended functions. Is telling someone that you attended meetings worth a negative take on you?

As mentioned, you definitely should not submit this. They don't want to hear from you once you submit your app unless something serious has changed (new promotion, etc) If you just forgot something, it will just hurt you. Hold tight and wait.
