For a certain race, 3 teams were allowed to enter 3 members each. A team earned 6 - n points whenever one of its members finished in nth place, where 1<= n >=5. There were no ties, disqualifications, orwithdrawals. If no team earned more than 6 points, what is the least possible score a team could have earned?

A. 0

B. 1

C. 2

D. 3

E. 4

Is is D i.e. 3 ?

Total points to give away = 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 15

If 2 teams got the max of 6 points each the minimum the last team would get would be 15 - 12 = 3.

I think 3

the scores of 9 players is: 5,4,3,2,1,0,0,0,0
*if n>=5 then the score is no longer 6-n....

if the highest score is 6
then remove 5,1
the second higest score: 4,3,2,0,0,0
again 6= 4,2,0

so the lowest score: 3,0,0 = 3
