For cows to be angered by the color red is a popular myth: cattle, like many mammals, are actually red-green colorblind

I think here "for" is not correct to use. For can either act as a conjunction or preposition. Here we have a clause "For cows to be angered by the color red" as the subject for verb "is" in "is a popular myth". So "for" in the clause cannot act as a conjunction. It does not fit as a preposition as well as it does not make sense as in the sentence "Color red angers for cows" which is the active voice form of the clause.

So A and D are out.

For cows to be angered by the color red is a popular myth
For is wrong
The notion that cows are angered by the color red is one that is popular but mythical
The sentence is wordy and has a change of meaning as we are not really contrasting myth and popularity.
The notion that cows are angered by the color red, which is popular, is a myth
Which is wrongly modifying red here
For cows, the notion of being angered by the color red is a popular one, but it is a myth nonetheless
Change of meaning emphasis is not on contrasting popular and myth. Also for cows is illlogical.
The popular notion that cows are angered by the color red is a myth
CORRECT

tarunktuteja,

Question has "popular" for myth. How can we attribute it to "notion"?

is is hard.
the notion is a myth
this is logic in E.

for cow to be anger is expansion of "to be angered"
"to be angered" is a myth
is not logic, though this sentence is grammatical

for example

to learn english is good
for you to learn english is good
though both of these sentences are less prefered than the following

it is good (for you) to learn english.

am i correct?
