"difficulties" does not sound right. So, I will go for B.

I agree with gayathri - B. 'increased difficulties' does not sound right. Also, C and E - 'increasing difficulty' sounds like the the difficulty level is continuing to increase/rise, where as the statement made before does not imply that. I think I am right - What is the OA?

Have been and have increased are required to indicate that the pigeons still have difficulty in homing
