Foreigners working in the Eurozone after MBA [#permalink] New post 02 Aug 2010, 19:50
Does anyone know how hard it is for an American to get a work visa in England/France/Spain/Switzerland post MBA? I am considering European schools but only if I have a reasonable chance of also finding employment there.

Well, your chances are certainly higher than the ones of an European union citizen attempting to get a work VISA in the USA !

Not sure this is true! Any evidence to back that up?

^^No, this is not true.I am from Bulgaria, Bulgaria is a member of the European union as is Great Britain ==> I can work in London without any VISAs.
You need some kind of European union work VISA which will allow you to work in the Union.
Notice that there is a difference between the Eurozone and the European union. The eurozone consists only of the countries in which euro is the official currency. In some new members , which joined in 2007 and 2008, euro is still not the official currency. However, being a citizen of such country gives you the right to work in the Eurozone as well.

Actually, if you are not an EU citizen, you require a visa from the individual member country you want to work in, in order to work there. I am a permanent resident of France (with a non-EU citizenship), and can work here, but to work in the UK I need a British visa.

Here's a handy guide to the EU and related bodies, note that the UK is not a member of the Eurozone nor the Schengen Area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Supra ... Bodies.png
