For the past few months I've been studying at home and I began feeling a bit claustrophobic and hidden away from civilization here in my apartment and I was becoming much less productive with my studies
I was just thinking about this issue yesterday, when it hit me. I should go to the local college library and study there!

After calling up the local community college and verifying that visitors are allowed into the library, I quickly packed my OG guide and my food and found a very quiet place on the top floor. The atmosphere was perfect for my studies, I felt like I was in the college finals study mode with many other students sitting quietly and studying around me. The cubicle I was sitting at was very similar to the one at the Pearson VUE center, so I felt that made me more comfortable for the test as well.

I ended up having a very productive study session, and to my surprise I even ran into an old friend from college there who was studying for the MCAT, so I was very pleased to see that I'm not the only person with this crazy idea.

I highly recommend this study method for those of you looking for a change of pace from your current studies.

Very interesting idea! In fact, I really like it... It might be the perfect place to even take a practice test. Since there are people walking around and minor distractions... even though everyone is trying to be quite (just like at the test center).

Some people like being surrounded by others b/c it makes them more accountable for their studies. With other people around studying, and other people able to see you, it makes you feel like you have to do you studies... I've also been told that you can get a similiar feeling/effect if you studying next to a mirror. Have you ever heard the saying "how can you look at yourself in the mirror?". Well if you have a crappy study session it's definitely harder to look at yourself in the mirror.

Very good advice. I think I might actually try and go to the local library since I usually stick myself in the office during the afterhours when it's dark and empty; that would probably make me moody in the long run :D
