Update: After talking to a couple of alumni and current students at GLIM, I have decided to not join it. Seems like the college is good primarily for IT placements. Though that means waiting for another year but I'm in no hurry either. Need to work on my profile and several other things.

I think that you made a wise decision by not going to GLIM and waiting for one year. Make sure that you utilize this time to work upon your profile and any shortcomings which may weaken your chances when you apply in the coming admission season.

I concur. I think that you made a good decision by not going to GLIM. I recently met a girl had a 580 and had gotten through GLIM. I think it is not difficult to get through the school.

I think it is not difficult to get through the school. I think she would be an exception because the average GMAT score at the school is around 670. In fact, if you look at Harvard/Stanford or any other score with a 700+ average score, you will definitely see a couple of people with scores in the late 500s but these people are usually exceptional and the Adcoms think that they would be able to add a lot of value to the class inspite of the low test scores. But overall yeah I agree GLIM still needs to build its brand. Not many people even those are taking the GMAT have heard of it and that is not a good thing.

What is your profile and how was the interview?

There's no dearth of people applying to ISB who have 700+. I think that I didn't do very well in the interview. I think they were not very convinced with some of the answers I gave. Nevermind, am gearing up for a second chance this year now.

Yes, you do have a lot of people applying to ISB with 700+. In fact, I wouldn't be very off from the target if I say that around 60% of the people applying to ISB have more than a 700 so what really matters is how you "sell" yourself in the interview

archimittal Very very true. Almost every Indian applying to a top school has 700+ so one needs to have some USP to be able to convert an interview call which unfortunately I didn't have but hopefully things should be better this time.

I have heard that the ISB makes you write some kind of essay on the interview day. Can you please shed some light on what are the topics like and how long is the essay for and why do they have this thing in the first practice ? I mean they already make the applicant submit their essays well in advance so it shouldn't make much sense to make them write an essay again

It doesn't have much weightage. I think they want to check whether you have good enough writing skills or not . A lot of indians have poor writing skills and pay a lot of money to admission consultants, so they wanna check whether you can write well enough or not.

XLRI still better. Moreover if you are intended to do from Asia, how about INSEAD and HKUST? WIth your score I think you have good chances for ISB. I m not sure about your work-ex but if you have 5+ then IIm's also could be a option.

Yes, I forgot INSEAD Singapore. Probably the best option in Asia. SPJain is a back up option and am not too hung ho on that :D How about you ? Now that you a great score, where do you plan to apply ?

I really need some free mind to clear my buffers. But my probable geographical choices are Asia, US-Canada and Australia. LBS and ISB are my dream schools but with present score they are difficult as my profile is not so extra ordinary !!
