Hello All,

I took the test today and went up 80 points from my previous score. I've been a silent lurker on this site for awhile now. Thanks to the founders (bb et al) who have posted VERY helpful mateiral.

I went into this exam knowing that I had to do better on the Quant. I scored a measly 31 in October when I took the exam. So after crying for three weeks, I started studying again and this time really went back to the basics. For all of you out there who might be in a similar situation, I wanted to share a few things that really helped me over the last few weeks,

1) Like others have said on this board, really assess your weak points. Narrow down not only to the types of questions (DS, PS etc) but even the subtypes of these questions. I had a lot of trouble the basic number properties questions in DS and did tons of practice questions until I could master them.

2) When you take a practice test or do a practice set of questions - review your approach for all the questions you've done whether they are right or wrong. Before, I used to review just the questions I got wrong and wouldn't bother with the questions I got right. It was very helpful to review my approach on the questions I got right and try to devise shortcuts etc.

3) Relax - I was so stressed when I took the exam in October, I could not concentrate on the actual exam.

4) It is very hard to gauge how you are doing on the actual exam - I left the quant section and thought I bombed since the questions were getting really easy, until I saw the 44 on the screen. You'll never know how you are doing. The questions were getting really. Do your best on each question and don't look back.

Thanks again to all who run this site! Best of luck to all of you.

Congratulations Upad.

Could you post the resources that you used to increase your score?

Also, when did you take your last GMAT and how much did you study (time wise) to imptove your score?

Since I mainly had to review the Quant material.I used the Kaplan 2003 book and GMAT plus (which I got from this site).

I took the exam the first week in October and moped around until the end of October and spent the last 3 - 4 weeks studying about 1-2 hours a night and then 4-5 hours on Saturday/Sunday.
