There is probably a lot of information in this request however I am hoping it will help give you a better sense of what I have done and what I am doing since my profile is a bit hard to explain. I feel that itself may have had some impact on my previous applications, in that I may not have been able to get my point or experience across clearly enough. Any help would be great.

I have applied to schools for the past 2 years as you can see from my profile but haven’t had any luck so far. I would like to know. It is a frustrating process and frankly I am unsure about how to continue. I did go to a "reputed" counsellor last year but fortunately I had done a lot of research through GC before I went to him and was not taken in by all his "advice".

GC has been home for me these past couple of years and I am hoping it is able to come through again this time. It would be absolutely wonderful if you could help me out.

Dear KidChaos,
Well the first thing when considering a reapplicant, is to try and figure out WHY things didn't go right. This I cant do without seeing your essays and knowing which schools you applied to, and when, and what your results are.

The first thing that DOES jump out though is that you write you will have three years by matriculation. If this is true, than that might explain things a bit, as few schools will take candidates with one year of work experience, and even two is relatively short.

But besides that, like I wrote, I can't really tell you what you did "Wrong" without digging MUCH deeper into your profile and essays and recommendations etc.

Your school list seem reasonable, although maybe a bit skewed on the tougher side. But that's fair enough. Odd though that you didn't mention any European programs, because there are a few that are quite strong in Luxury brand management (not surprisingly schools in Paris and Milan like HEC, INSEAD, Bocconni)

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your response. I have the same feeling as you that being a little light on Work ex is at the centre of the issue. But apart from that maybe I was too close to my essays to view them objectively although I did have some external help in the form of a Family friend who is a Professor at a US university. I believe it is probably a combination of factors.

My main concern is that I am applying to schools completely out of my reach. But what you said gives me some hope that is not entirely true. I agree that they are on the tougher side but a counselor I visited actually told me that they are completely wrong for the course I want to pursue and I don't believe that is true.

I will look into some of the European programs and see what they have to offer as well.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds allright then. I would say a combination of more work experience, stronger essays, and shift in school strategy (applying to a mix of reapplicant and new schools, adding a safety school or two to your strategy) will help you out.

Best of luck!
