Good luck everyone, assuming good news, do they provide a guide for transportation suggestions for on-campus interviews? I'd be flying out of NYC, and trying not to spend too much money.

I'm pretty sure they send you driving directions to campus based on where you're coming from. I rented a car because I was staying over night, so I can comment on that experience.

Pros:
+ Since I was staying at a hotel overnight, it was cheaper than taking multiple taxis to and from RDU Airport.
+ I was "in charge" of my schedule and could come/go as I pleased. Didn't have to wait for a taxi to come to campus.

Cons:
- Wasn't really sure where I was going. Took me a while to find the business school.
- Parking isn't easy.

Thanks! how much was car rental/hotel? Which hotel do you recommend? Anything you recommend doing while there?

No problem! Happy to help.

I stayed at a hotel based on price(Quality Inn and Suites). It was $198.17 for two nights including car rental from Thrifty, nothing special but got the job done. I flew down the weekend they had a snow storm in Philly, got delayed until Monday morning, so unfortunately I didn't have time to experience much since I got to campus 1 hr before my interview and left early the next morning.

PM me if you have any specific questions.

Just checked my status on Duke's website...and I got an invite!

Good luck to everyone else. Here's hoping we get a bunch more invites!

Where does it say that you were accepted or denied for the interview. I interviewed in the open period. Did anyone else do this? I think that may be why I dont have an update.

Not Invited.... I really liked Fuqua's program.

Same here. Also, I thought this one was my best application. Felt bad to see that "Not Invited"

Being an Ivy league, the competition is cut throat. The only hope is to wait and pray that the adcom sends another round of invites.

We are not ivy league, we are ACC baby. Better competition!

So pretty much based on the previous posts, no invite = soft deny right?

well the denial letter is almost a flat out denial..to the wharton guy ...wharton doesn't have the same prestige stanford and harvard have...i would rate duke over wharton ...duke and booth are much better than wharton...and you add the awesome weather in north carolina and dukes campus and social life...duke is a no brainer unless you get in H/S.

What? I like Duke and all, but Wharton is objectively better by pretty much every metrics:

- Average GMAT/GPA/Selectivity (718/3.6 to 690/3.42) :
https://poetsandquants.com/2013/08/07/th ... verages/2/

- Average Salary 5 years out: (225k to 168k!)
https://poetsandquants.com/2011/08/04/wh ... years-out/

- Average Salary upon graduation (138k to 136k):
https://poetsandquants.com/2013/03/18/wh ... ne-deal/2/

- Aggregate Ranking (4 to 9):
https://poetsandquants.com/2013/12/02/po ... of-2013/3/

Plus Wharton does much better in front office finance and consulting going by the employment reports.

An argument can be made that Booth is better than Wharton, but it's definitely not viewed as objectively better.

I am sorry but gmat and stuff doesn't matter. Wharton rejects everyone with a gmat lower than 700 whereas duke actually reads yr app. So I don't pay much attention to stats . Yes if you are just interested in IB then wharton may be a better option but I went to both schools and I absolutely loved fuqua more than any other school. Ppl were friendly and the climate was awesome. Professors were engaging. Salary is the same for ib across all schools so it doesn't matter which school you get into as far as that is concerned. These two years are going to be the last 2 years of yr academic life and I value fit more than anything else so I would go to duke if I get in.to each his own but stats don't mean anything. If you are good enough to get into top schools whether it wharton or duke then you are good enough to perform well at yr workplace which will determine your future. 2 yrs into ur career no one will care about the school you attended sir. But best of luck with wharton. All I am saying is wharton doesn't have the same prestige it use to. International students don't understand that and more often blinded by brand name. Look at the community .even tuck is awesome as the alumni are so helpful. The same goes for duke. If I had to rank it would be hbs, stanford, booth, sloan, tuck, duke and then wharton.

So... I interviewed during the open interview period and really bombed. I'm still not sure what happened, exactly, but my interviewer and I were so completely opposite types of people, it was like having a conversation with a space alien. Which caused me to panic and get nervous and just not present myself very well. I think I have a strong app otherwise (one of my recommenders is a Duke alumn, and I have another letter of support from a Fuqua grad), but my low undergrad GPA was already a major obstacle to overcome.

Since I won't be getting any feedback with regards to an interview invite or ding, I thought I'd ask you guys whether you think I'm totally out of the running now, or if the interview doesn't matter as much as I think it does.

Thanks!

I understand your intention, but nothing anyone here says will mean anything because that's impossible to answer with any kind of authority. Only the adcoms know a) what weight the interview holds, b) what your interview debrief actually says and c) where your 'story' fits into the diversity of the class they're trying to construct. Nothing in the echo chamber of internet forums can shed any light on that, so I suppose: hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Email said interview is business casual. Did anyone who had an interview on campus see fellow applicants wearing sport coats and/or ties?

Also - if anyone is going to be there from the 20th thru the 22nd let me know! I imagine I'll be free in the evenings (Thursday & Friday) and it would be great to meet up with other applicants.

You will find people in sport coats or dress shirts with no tie/coat, but when I went there, majority was dressed up in business professional. You cannot go wrong either way.

What % of people had suit and tie? I'm thinking suit with no tie, would that be under dressed compared to most? I hate ties haha.
