guys im debating between applying to columbia, insead or an executive mba at rotmans/schulich, wondering if i could get some advice. im 28 years old, currently work in toronto in a well known canadian bank in their treasury dept. enjoy my job for now but would relaly like to have an mba to help me advance within the banking industry maybe to more of a finance related area down the road. have a total of ~5 years of work experience. im not really sure where id like to work permantly but i think its most likely i would want to stay in canada (possibly move to the US, but small chance of that). i currently do like my job so i dont want to quit my job which was why im only considering insead and columbia since they offer shorter degrees which i could take leave from work for (and also they are strong in finance). on the other hand, some are telling me that if you plan on staying in canada, ur better off just doing a local mba since so much about mba school is about building contacts and networks in the area you want to work. if i was to go for insead or columbia, i guess id probably be more inclined to insead since its shorter (10 months vs 16 months) so easier to take time off work and less time being missed from work. but i also dont want to end up telling my boss that i am applying for columbia and insead and then not end up getting in (since i konw they are very good schools and hard to get into), and then that could hamper potential promotions in the future since my boss will always have it in the back of his mind that i may go for mba again at some point in the future.
basically this msg is all over the place, but i have so many decisions to make and am kind of lost, would be great if i could get any advice from you pros, thanks so much!
