General Part-Time MBA Question [#permalink] New post 05 Dec 2013, 10:37
Hello,

I am thinking of doing a part-time mba and my first choice is the USC MBA PM.

However, I currently do not live in California. My question is:

Do I need to have a job before I apply for the school? I was hoping to attend the MBA classes and look for a job or internship once I stabilize moving to SoCal.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Well, first of all, do you have a job now? You will have to use very different tactics to persuade AdCom of your plan depends on that.

kdkpsj, yes I do. I am a programmer but work in a marketing department, and have been in the field for 3+ years.

The biggest reason why I wish to attend part-time is because I cannot afford to go to MBA school full-time.

Then I don't see much problem. I don't think any PT MBA *requires* you to be employed during school, and probably so does USC. However, I am sure AdCom will question you how you are going to attend the program if you are not living in SoCal right now, so you should be ready for that. But besides that, I don't see much of an issue. In fact, many PT student do travel significant distance to attend class over the weekend.
