getting score from 420 to at least 550 in 11 weeks [#permalink] New post 21 Jun 2013, 20:42
I just took the gmat for the first time after only casually studying for about 3 weeksand received a horrible score of 420 (30 percentile for verbal and an embarrassing 14 percentile in quant). I took a practice test and scored a 520 and for some uhh unknown reason stopped studying for 2 weeks (not smart on my part, I know). The school I am applying to requires a score of at least 550. I plan on studying 6 days a week (2 days for an hour, 2 days for 2 hours, and 2 days for 3-4 hours). My study materials include: Manhattan gmat quant and og verbal (first month), Kaplan 2013 edition (second month) and last month review og 13th edition. I am going to take a practice test every three weeks to monitor success and weak areas (which I know is my quant). Will this plan help give me the boost I need? Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ( I know a 550 isn't that high in the gmat world, but I am a very nervous test taker and am not applying to a B-)school)

Thanks!

Kristinaw: Are u a native English speaker? If yes that concentrate on Verbal and work on Manhattan books
For verbal use this study plan http://gmatclub.com/forum/study-plan-for-verbal-gmat-98342.html

For quant concentrate on official guides and use Manhattan math books..

my suggestion is to strict to Manhattan books (8book series http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/manhattan-gmat-set-of-8-strategy-guides-fourth-edition-manhattan-gmat/1100897411?ean=9780984178049), GMAT official guides (1 Main, 1 verbal, 1 math) and GMAT Prep Software.
Buying the Manhattan books gives u 5 additional online exams which are also good.

Try to complete the basic study during the first 4-6 weeks and once ur confident with the contents, take practice test every week and use the two GMAT Prep test at the end..

Hope that helps you in achieving ur goal :)
