There is a good discussion Here about wines but all the links posted by Rhyme are not available. I am a novice as far as wines are concerned. I am a scotch drinker.

Do you guys have idea of some good wines in range of $50-60? Brunello di Moltacino: a good middle of the line choice

A barolo .... bit expensive for what it is frankly... but its good.

Lots of other good choices...

Malbec's are very good too...
South Africa has some great wines too

Rhyme, since you seem to know this stuff, whats the best bottle of scotch and the best bottle of wine I can get for $80-$100 (per bottle)?

I made my recommenders do 8 apps, so thats what I feel is appropriate.

16 year Lagavulin is down at ($85) Do you know what Scotch he drinks? I mean the Highland Park is probably a safer bet and all, but the Lagavulin is incredible stuff. I will chat with my whisky friend some more tonight. Thanks, where would I get these? I had a tough time online with the Highland park and doubt my local liquor store would carry it. https://secure.samswine.com/advanced_se ... c_subcat=1 right there. http://www.samswine.com/adelphi-quothig ... 0e748878b9 VP Joined: 20 Sep 2005 Posts: 1021 Followers: 3 Kudos [?]: 34 [0], given: 0 [#permalink] ### Show Tags 15 Mar 2007, 11:14 I gave my recommenders Bose headphones. Its a nice bottle, its good, easy on the palete, and easy on the wallet. It's also a fairly recognizable name - if he knows anything about wine he'll recognize it.

And get him this:

they were both over the moon!
