I'm going to be extremely blunt, so if you're the type of guy who's sensitive, you're not going to like my comments.
However, once you get past that, and see my comments (in CAPITALS below), you'll see that I'm giving you valuable advice.
I m a 2nd year Undergraduate student of BBA (Marketing). I have a burning desire to have degree from a USA top ranked university -
WHY? IF YOU JUST WANT THE STAMP OF A TOP US UNIVERSITY, YOU'RE WASTING YOUR TIME EVEN APPLYING. YOU NEED TO HAVE CLEAR GOALS FOR EACH AND EVERY UNIVERSITY YOU APPLY TO, AND HOW IT FITS WITH YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS. DON'T JUST PULL THE SCHOOL NAMES OFF A USNEWS OR BUSINESSWEEK RANKING LIST - THE SCHOOLS WILL SEE THROUGH THAT CRAP. EVEN A GREAT GMAT SCORE WILL NOT HELP YOU - HARVARD AND STANFORD REJECT 750-PLUS REGULARLY IF THEY ARE NOT ACCOMPANIED BY GREAT ESSAYS AND A GOOD OVERALL APPLICATION,
though I m not a resident of USA, and I have not much money to study in USA. but I wish I could
i will have a Undergraduate GPA 3.9
YOU HAVEN'T EVEN FINISHED YOUR DEGREE AND YOU ALREADY SEEM TO BE SURE OF YOUR FINAL GPA. HMM.......RATHER PREMATURE..
and i also have a confident that I can have 700+ GMAT score if I try.
HOW DO YOU KNOW? HAVE YOU EVEN TAKEN THE DIAGNOSTICS TEST? IF YOU HAVEN'T, IT WILL BRING YOU DOWN TO EARTH RATHER FAST. YOU MIGHT STILL SCORE 800 IN THE FINAL GMAT, BUT JUST THINKING YOU CAN DOESN'T MEAN YOU ACTUALLY WILL.
Now anybody plz give me suggestions that---
1. what can I do now?
THINK OF YOUR TRUE GOALS. WHAT YOU WANT OUT OF THE MBA, WHAT YOU WILL USE THE KNOWLEDGE FOR. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY, THEN YOU'RE WASTING YOUR APPLICATION MONEY AND A LOT OF TIME.
IF THE ANSWER IS "I WANT TO GRADUATE FROM A TOP 10 US SCHOOL" OR "I WANT MORE MONEY" THEN THINK AGAIN. NOT ONLY WILL MOST APPLICANTS HAVE THE SAME BENT OF MIND, THIS IS ALSO A SURE GUARANTEE TO GET A REJECT. FROM YOUR POST, I GET THE IMPRESSION THAT YOU'RE YOUNG AND HAVE HARDLY ANY WORK EXPERIENCE. IF I'VE GUESSED CORRECTLY, GET 3-5 YEARS OF GOOD EXPERIENCE, SOME LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES (PERHAPS EVEN MANAGEMENT) AND THEN YOU'LL GET A BETTER IDEA OF YOUR OWN GOALS.
2. How will I start my GMAT prep. from now?
USE THE BOOKS DUDE.
3. if I have a good CGPA (like 3.9 or 3.8) and good GMAT score (like 700+) then, will I get any full free scholarship or scholarship in foreigh University like USA or others?
QUALIFY YOUR QUESTION. I SUSPECT THAT YOU'VE JUST PULLED SOME SCHOOLS OFF A RANKING LIST AND ARE THINKING OF AN MBA JUST BECAUSE ITS PART OF THE RAT RACE. YOU DO NOT APPEAR TO HAVE ANY CLUE AS TO "WHY AN MBA", WHICH IS THE FIRST QUESTION ALL BUSINESS SCHOOLS ASK. BY THE WAY, FREE MONEY FOR AN MBA IS RARE AND FAR BETWEEN, EVEN FOR THOSE WITH CLEARLY ARTICULATED GOALS, GOOD SCORES, GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS AND SO ON AND SO FORTH - NONE OF WHICH YOU HAVE AT PRESENT.
4. Which Books I can follow to have an excelent GMAT score?
BOOKS HELP, BUT THAT'S NOT ALL - IT'S HOW YOU APPLY YOURSELF THAT MATTERS. YOU'RE FORGETTING THE BASIC INGREDIENT TO A GOOD SCORE. HOWEVER, KAPLAN
, PRINCETON REVIEW AND THE OFFICIAL GUIDE ARE GOOD. USE THE SEARCH BUTTON DUDE - THERE ARE AT LEAST 1000 POSTS ON GMAT BOOKS. YOU CLEARLY HAVEN'T BOTHERED TO SEARCH.
5. only GMAT and good CGPA is enough to ahve a scholarship for Graduate degree like MBA??
NO. DEFINITELY NOT. FROM THIS COMMENT, I'M GUESSING YOU'RE FROM INDIA. THAT'S HOW IT WORKS IN INDIA, NOT IN THE US. SEE MY COMMENTS IN ANOTHER FORUM FOR IIM/ISB.
READ THE FORUMS, USE THE SEARCH BUTTON LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. GMAT AND GPA ARE JUST TWO FACTORS IN PERHAPS 6-10 FACTORS, DEPENDING ON THE SCHOOL.
6. What I have to do if I want to have a full free scholarship??
START STUDYING FOR THE GMAT. IT'S VALID FOR 5 YEARS.
GET MORE WORK EXPERIENCE, PERHAPS LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE.
DO A WHOLE LOT MORE RESEARCH.
DON'T AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME THAT A GOOD GMAT AND GOOD GPA ARE EVERYTHING. IT MOST DEFINITELY IS NOT. THERE ARE LAB JOCKEYS WITH 800 WHO HAVE BEEN REJECTED BY HARVARD AND DEPARTMENT MANAGERS WITH 680 WHO HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED BY HARVARD, JUST AS AN EXAMPLE.
GET SOME DECENT GOALS DUDE.
7. How much time i have to spend from now to have a score of 750+ in GMAT?
DEPENDS ON YOU DUDE. FROM YOUR ENGLISH, I'D SAY A WHOLE LOT OF TIME ON VERBAL. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOUR MATH.
Plz give me details suggestions, I will be grateful to him who give me a better suggestion
I THINK YOU'D BETTER SPEND A WHOLE LOT OF TIME ON VERBAL, DUDE. IF YOU WRITE LIKE THIS, YOU'RE GOING TO NEED IT
.. Thank you. YOU'RE WELCOME
