Can anyone help to walk me through this coz i don't have the answers for this one though :( Thanks.

((1/5)^m)((1/4)^18)= ((1/2(10)^35)). What is the value of m?

( 1/5) ^m * 1/2 ^ 36 = 1/2 * 10^35

= (1/5) ^m * (1/2)^35 = 10 ^ 35 (cancelling 1/2 both sides)

(1/5) ^ m = (10/2)^35 ( applying x ^m * y ^ -m = (x/y) ^ m)

or 5 ^ -m = 5 ^35

or m = -35

correct me if i'm wrong as i had a similar logic but isn't the part in red supposed to be (1/5)^m = (10/ [1/2])^35 = 1/5^m = 20^35 since we are "canceling" the term

had this one on my gmat prep.

(1/5^m * (1/2^2)^18 = 1/2(2^35*5^35)

(1/5^m * (1/2)^36 = 1/2^36*5^35. Multiply both sides by 2^36.

your left w/ 1/5^m=1/5^35

m=35.
