Hey there !
Don't get too low.... cheer up and go for it again.
Sometimes, it happens that you mess it up and you can aim for a bigger increase in that case even if the average increase is 30-45 points.
I think probably you need to aim a bit lower like 640~670 range and you might acheive that. Its hard to get such big improvement but then with practice and some luck, I guess its feasible. Definitel + or - 20 depends on luck as well.
What I would suggest is... don't loose hope now. Give it a short break for couple of days and then start fresh and work towards getting a good score this time.
Also, try to pick up the low hanging fuits - Find your mistakes and weak areas and do the quick fixes first and then take on the big problem areas. Fixing the quick ones will give you confidence and you can take the big ones then.
Also, probably you cannot delay the GMAT too much also as you might miss Round 2s and Round 3s of various schools, hence I would say keep your schools and deadlines also in mind while deciding the test. May be end of decmeber or first week Jan can still work out.
let me know if you have more questions !
Cheers !

Hi Guys
I hope someone replies and helps me make this decision.Scored 540 on the GMAT (Q-38 , V-25) and I am disappointed.
I studied for about 5 months mostly OG13, Manhattan SC,
e-GMAT SC and Gmatclub.
I scored around 560 in
MGMAT CAT and scored 610 on GMATPrep 3 weeks before my GMAT.
I was scoring around Q-42 and V-28 on GMATPrep but I could not match or improve on my score.
My target score is 670 - 700,
the question is should I just give up or give it one more shot. As I can see the average score improvement is 30 -45 points (as mentioned in GMAC data) but to reach my target I will need to improve at least 130 points.
I have been an average student and it seems it is too late to improve on that.
I am not great at Quant and feel even under best scenario I should not expect more than Q 45-47, assuming Q46 I would need to aim V40 to be in the range of my desired score. So a leap from Q38 to Q 46 seems less daunting when compared with the leap from V25 to V40
Guys please give an honest reply even if it is bitter, I expected to score at least 630-650 this time which would have made me very happy and would have kept the hope floating that I can be in the range I want to be.
But seeing my result I guess I am not worth scoring 670+ maybe I have lost the battle long ago in the formative years of my IQ.
As I can't leave my job I won't be able to give full day attention on study.
Considering all the factors above please advice what should be my next step.
Though I did not score much but still would like to thank Bunnel, bb and others for their effort putting up so much great stuff here.Regards
