Don't feel dejected at your score. Although Indian IT pool is very competitive in terms of GMAT scores, a lot will depend on the target schools that you are planning to apply to. Your score might not be good enough for Top tier schools.
Verify the 80% GMAT ranges of the schools you are interested in and make a decision on whether to apply or not. If you are aim is to get into Tier 1 schools then I would suggest you to take the GMAT again, bump up your score and apply in 2012.

I would say if you think you can topple your current score in the next attempt then re-take GMAT. If not, then you can work out real polished applications and if you pick right colleges, with your experience, I think you stand a fair chance.

I would agree with what "nmpmsm9" has said.

And if you feel that you underperformed, then go for it once again.

Hello,

I know exactly how you feel. Just a bit more than a month ago, I took the GMAT for the 2nd time and scored 640 (q47,v31).

Today, I took it for the 3rd time and I got exactly the same total score 640, but with a q42, v35 split. I do admit that I spent most of the time over the last month finishing up stuff at work and also trying to finish the verbal questions in the OG 12 + Verbal review.

I think the main downfall was that I spent the last 3 days with a fever. Either way, 640 is enough for the schools I want to go to, so I should focus on the applications now. I'm going to have to find something else to fill the void of studying for the GMAT.

gsd85,

I think the admission consultants on this forum would be able to give a better advice to you on your chances at the schools you have mentioned. Please reach out to them.
