GMAT 650 Q49 V31 - Should I take it again? [#permalink] New post 29 Jun 2004, 23:25
Hi Linda,

I took GMAT yesterday and got 650 (Q49 & V31) after preparing for 3 months (took Kaplan classroom too). My expectation was 700+. My practice tests and GMATClub.com's score estimator were estimating 720. I am not sure what went wrong, but did poorly in verbal than I expected. Should I take GMAT again?

Profile:

Age : 28
Nationality : Indian
Living In : USA
Job : Working as Project Manager for small software consulting firm, but provide consulting services for a fortune 100 company. I am sure I can get extremely good recommendation letters from my client.
Experience : 5+ years (good growth in terms of pay and responsibilities)
GMAT : 650
UG GPA : ~3.2 (8.2 on 10 scale)
Bachelors : Food Science & Technology
Extra curricular activities at university level : County level Secratary for a students union for an year and state level secretary for three more years. Active participant in community, university activities.
Current extra curricular activities : Active participation in one Non-profit organization and contributor to several others. Co-ordinator of Alumni activities.
Target Schools: Sloan, Wharton, Columbia, Kellog, Chicago, UCB
Can you give me an idea on what my chances are and what steps can I take towards my target schools?

Thank you and I appreciate your help.

sorry I missed your post.

In any case, if you want to have a serious chance at the schools on your list, you need to retake the GMAT. Since your practice tests predicted a higher score, you probably just had an off day, and it really pays for you to try again. With this score, you would really need to modify your list of schools.

Good luck!

Hello crackgmat750,

No. It is not IIT. It is a state Agricultural University.

Hello Linda,

Thank you for the response. What institutions can I look forward to with GMAT 650 and TOEFL 280? BTW - I am interested in General Management.

Rav

Consider Emory, UNC, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Indiana, perhaps USC and Cornell. If you are interested in general management in the IT industry, you should also consider CMU.
