GMAT 690 Q50 V31, Should I retake? [#permalink] New post 15 Apr 2010, 10:32
Hi guys,

I got a score of 690 with Q50 and V31. I screwed up my verbal section mainly because I didn't pace myself properly. I believe I can definitely improve my score of 31 in verbal to about 40 since I have got 40 in most of the practice tests such as Manhattan. I have consistently scored 50 in quant so I don't think that my quant score would go down. I think that I would be able to get a better score even if I give GMAT again in a weeks time. Would it make a lot of difference in my application if I got a better score of say 730-740?

Thank you so much.

I am currently an undergraduate with a GPA of 3.4 and am planning to apply to HBS 2+2. Could someone please list the different schools which have programs like HBS 2+2?

Thank you so much.

Yale Silver Scholars.

Yes, I would take it again unless you have a verbal type degree or your undergraduate transcript contains many verbal classes. Your score, though impressive, may not look as impressive if you have a strong quant background.

Lagomez, Thanks for your quick reply. Yale Silver Scholars seems to be a good program. I would appreciate if you could list a couple more programs like this one.

Thanks in advance.

i would retake it. you math will probably be 49-50 again and there's a lot of room for improvement with verbal. SC is viewed as the easiest part of verbal to improve on since it follows a set number of rules while RC and CR is more "learn these strategies and apply". I am not trying to be a salesman here but i think you might want to try Knewton with your current situation - they have the 50 point guarantee so if you get to low 700s you get your money back AND possibly meet your desired score - and if you get 740+ (no refund) then it is even better! I attribute my verbal increase from 29 to 39 to knewton because that was the major change i made after my disappointing score. Also make sure you have the generic prescription of MGMAT SC,RC and powerscore CR books since you can pretty much skip math till the end.
