GMAT 700, Applying for PhD in Information Systems [#permalink] New post 25 Sep 2005, 21:39
Hi,
I got 700 in GMAT : 32 Verbal (67%), 51 Quants (99%). I did my B.Tech from IIT and MS from GWU (both in computer engineering). After 1 year with PwC I am currently working with IBM Global Services. Now I am looking to apply for PhD in Information Systems. Looking at my scores can somebody please let me know which schools will be suitable for me. Please include good schools as well as safe schools (50-50) in the list. Also any other help/info is welcome.

Thanks a lot in advance

You've got a shot at CMU. You didn't mention your GPAs, though. One thing that will really help is that Quant score--congratulations!

I would apply to top 15, top 30 range. Why can't you get an academic recommendation? That might really help. And have you published anything or collaborated thereupon?

Agree with mail above !! CMU should be fine, but apply to many more. Please keep in mind that unlike MBA admissions, for every school there are not more than 2-4 seats in a particular field of PhD. So you may not get in your desired school - not because you are not good, but because there are many more applicants. Overall, I would estimate that your chances are pretty good , although probability of any single school admit will always be low !!
