GMAT Admission to Top 10 Schools [#permalink] New post 21 Sep 2011, 01:12
Hi.

I am Vinod from Mumbai.

Just wanted to know my eligibility to get into the Top 10 US schools or Top 10 International Schools.

My GPA is poor(not even 2) as my academic record in Graduation(engineering) was poor. My School academic record is very good but not outstanding.

So if I have a GMAT score of say 720, then would I be able to get into these schools provided we assume that I have all other requisites.

I will have 5 years of work experience by July 2012 with 3 years of experience as Assistant Manager in the Import Export sector. Also I have been associated with The Art Of Living foundation for the past 4 years and done pretty good work with them in Mumbai.

My forte which would be visibly clear in an interview is my presence, my energy levels & the varied interests that I have and the zeal with I am still pursuing them.

Thanx and Regards.

Vinod

Moving your post to the MBA section.

the answer is maybe though a low undergrad GPA is a strong indicator and some schools require evidence that you have changed since and will perform better during your MBA.

Unless you have a VERY VERY good reason for such a low GPA, a Top 5 even top 10 school is gonna be tough. There will simply be too many applicants with far better numbers.

Hi Vinod,

As others have rightly indicated, you need a very very solid reason for this low GPA for top 10 B-schools. A GMAT score of 720+ will not completely offset this. You need a strong indicator of your academic potential. Try to expand your target school list to top 25 that match your profile and fulfill your career goals. As of now, focus on GMAT prep and try to achieve as high as possible.
