Hi all,

New to the forum and the process. I have the 12th edition of the Official GMAT + the 4th edition of the Manhattan GMAT. I got these books for free from a friend who took the exam last year.

I decided to take the GMAT in 2014, and I see that a 13th edition of the Official GMAT is out + a 5th edition of the Manhattan GMAT. Is it worth spending the additional $350 on this? Should I spend this extra money on a different provider to supplement my studies, such as Veritas GMAT?

My ambitions are lofty, with a target between 750-800.

Thanks in advance,

People have scored 750+ with the OG 12 and MGMAT 4th edition.
My suggestion would be to get the OG 13, however, and use it for the sake of the IR section and practice questions it comes with (they are online actually). It is a worth investment but probably not worth re-purchasing the MGMAT Books.

The bundle above is sufficient for a high score - you don't really need anything else. More is not better. 2x is not equal to 2, but rather to 0.8 since you get distracted and overwhelmed. You can consider looking into a course if you prefer (there are quite a few cheap online courses from Magoosh, eGMAT, and GMAT Pill) - that may be slightly more effective since it appeals to different senses (watching+listening vs. reading) or you can spend the $300 on weak spots/areas and get specialty books/help.

Good Luck!

I agree with BB, the 12th edition isn't outdated, and very qualified to prep you for the questions you'll be coming up against on test day.

Equally important would be access to mock exams, make sure you have that!

Very good point! You may or may not have access with the bundle to the MGMAT practice tests because your friend may have redeemed the subscription. However, you can either buy one more book (I would recommend buying the 5th edition MGMAT IR (since the 4th edition did not come with it, assuming you even need IR help). If not then MGMAT CR - it has undergone the most improvement manhattan-gmat-4th-edition-vs-5th-edition-136713.html

I think for Integrated reasoning practice, it might be anyway a good idea to buy OG13. Not sure if GMAC is selling only IR questions (without buying OG13).
