2011 Application Results for GMAT Club Members So after spending about 2 weeks finalizing the numbers for the 2011 Application Season (that's last year), we have the official statistics on how we all collectively did. I have to say quite well - on average GMAT Club members were 62% more likely to get admitted but 2011 season was not as good as 2010 application season (which I think there are a few reasons for that but let's jump into analysis first).
| Admissions Results for 2011 Application Season | | Applied | Admitted | 2011 GMAT Club Admission % | General Admission % | Difference 2011 | Waitlisted | Dinged | UNKNOWN | Matriculating* | Difference 2010 | | Booth | 341 | 62 | 18% | 22% | -18% | 43 | 155 | 81 | 38 | 76% | | Columbia | 242 | 55 | 23% | 15% | 48% | 11 | 31 | 145 | 40 | 11% | | Darden | 178 | 50 | 28% | 26% | 7% | 20 | 20 | 88 | 26 | 0% | | Duke Fuqua | 263 | 96 | 37% | 24% | 54% | 32 | 28 | 107 | 51 | 0% | | Haas | 191 | 32 | 17% | 12% | 44% | 31 | 32 | 96 | 18 | 40% | | HBS | 143 | 28 | 20% | 12% | 63% | 6 | 14 | 95 | 24 | 145% | | Johnson | 56 | 21 | 38% | 23% | 60% | 5 | 0 | 30 | 12 | 0% | | Kellogg | 485 | 148 | 31% | 20% | 53% | 81 | 130 | 126 | 86 | 76% | | MIT Sloan | 202 | 41 | 20% | 13% | 56% | 9 | 71 | 81 | 26 | -20% | | NY Stern | 209 | 70 | 33% | 13% | 155% | 44 | 21 | 74 | 37 | 32% | | Ross | 279 | 140 | 50% | 25% | 98% | 41 | 20 | 78 | 99 | 0% | | Stanford | 101 | 11 | 11% | 7% | 61% | 5 | 85 | 0 | 9 | 38% | | Tuck | 188 | 48 | 26% | 20% | 26% | 45 | 31 | 64 | 26 | 123% | | Wharton | 225 | 34 | 15% | 17% | -10% | 51 | 32 | 108 | 24 | 6% | | Yale | 219 | 58 | 26% | 17% | 53% | 26 | | 135 | 26 | 0% |
Fine Print: *Matriculation is calculated using the School's Yield rate and applied to the GMAT Club Members Admitted. It is only an estimateAverages These are averages across the board, so in general they don't apply to each individual school since numbers vary quite a bit - these are only for a general trend. - GMAT Club Applicants per School: 221
- Admission Rate: 26%
- Admission Chances: +50% compared to the general public
Surprises The biggest surprise was Booth! The difference between GMAT Club Members and general applicants was -18% - Wharton was less surprising. Last year we had a lead of 6% and this year our luck reversed to have a 10% negative difference. Leaders in 2011 - NY Stern - application rate of GMAT Club members was 155% that of average (33% admitted vs. 13% average admission rate). Compare this to the 74% last year - Ross - application rate of GMAT Club members was double that of average (50% admitted vs. 25% average admission rate). Compared to the 78% last year 2011 vs 2010 Admission Rates General Admission Trends - Increasing (Schools Are Becoming Less Selective) Which School Has the Most GMAT Clubbers? Now, this is not exact since admission does not translate into matriculation numbers (and unfortunately we do not have those) but assuming that everyone who got accepted, did attend the respective schools, Ross would have 29% GMAT Clubbers. Second would be Kellogg with 28% of GMAT Clubbers. Fine Print: *Matriculation is calculated using the School's Yield rate and applied to the GMAT Club Members Admitted. This is awesome! Absolutely great statistics! Thank you bb for collectin tshi in all one. I hope that this year we will have even more accurate data to trace the conclusions. What we need to do is regularly to update our application profiles. Its wonderful to have from 7% to -29% of classmates from the GMATCLUB!!!

Woah! I didn't expect so high a proportion of admits to come from GMATClub, I mean 25% of Yale's class is made up from GMATClub users. If I can get a place at Duke will be good to know that I have fellow GMATClubbers alongside me. But truly this just shows the outstanding work this website and community has done for all us members. Thanks

Nice!
Two things I noticed though, Leaders in 2011, the percentages for both schools should be 'greater than the average' (33 is 254% of 13)
And in the table, (GMATClubAdmits)/(ClassSize) != (%ofClassThatsGMATClub) since we arent accounting for the percentage of GMATClubAdmits that end up matriculating at that school.
Still, really cool to see the success that GMATClubbers have experienced.

Thanks for the results! Very helpful to see where I landed on that board How did you get the official admit rates for 2011 though? Is that already widely available?

Besides from being one of the top schools, how come Kellogg has so many applicants? I'm from outside the US so I don't know anything about demographics or other factors that might explain the high numbers.

I was calculating the incremental difference (13-13)/13 as opposed to 33/13, but happy to do it either way. Still, really cool to see the success that GMATClubbers have experienced. Agreed! Admit does not mean Matriculation and last year (Fall 2010) we tracked matriculation numbers much better but this year (Fall 2011) that seems to have fallen through and only a few school masters kept track of that. It is possible that one person got into 3 schools (Admitted) but naturally Matriculated only into one. This next year (Fall 2012), we should have all the numbers

They are very fresh. You can find them here: http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandr ... a-rankings(I believe they are for 2011 as they were different from 2010 in terms of class size and admission rate). P.S. Also thank you for asking - I found that a last year's rate was used in the Ross calculation and that was inflating the numbers. Also, a confusion in my calculation of Winners & Losers (I was calling percents what really was not percents. I took that section down as it was more confusion than help). I will post it back when I figure out a clean way to do it. Perhaps a chart.... Ok. I added one chart

I think I have a solution. We do not have our average Matriculation Rates but I will be assuming GMAT Club Members had the same Yield Rate as other applicants (close enough I think)
