GMAT Club Challenges [#permalink] New post 03 Jul 2008, 06:20
I'm scheduled to sit for the gmat on july 26th, with gives me about 23 days to put the finishing touches on my prep. I'm currently consistently hitting around 42 to 44 on Quant on my practice tests. Is it worth purchasing the challenges at this point? I probably will only be able to get through 15 or 16 at the most.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I think it would be an outstanding use of your last 23 days. Try and do as many as you can and make sure to review every problem you get wrong. If you put in the hard work in regards to the challenges, then your Quant score should improve to 45-48. Good luck to you.

Thanks jb. I went ahead and bought them. What's another $80? Who knows, that $80 could turn into thousands in schollies, that'd be nice.

You made the right decision. The GMAT Club challenges are great practice and really help those looking to boost their Q scores into the 48-51 range. I personally improved my Q score from 43 to 48 using the challenges exclusively.

I practiced only challanges and nothing else. I scored 47 in Quant. They are 2 good for words. These cover all types of questions and explanations are also very nice. I will recommend them :P

I agree. I practised questions from the OG as well, but they were easier than the actual test. Thats why the gmat club challenges were good - if you're used to doing hard questions, then you'll find the actual test easier.

Also, you will find that there are certain techniques for answering certain questions, and getting acquainted with them now in the gmat challenges means that you can just pull out that information/method during the actual test.

Even if you only have time left to take just a few of the maths tests, they are still a must-buy.

As far as the tests go, are the verbals equally good as the quant ? I have heard rave reviews on the quant side of things..not so much with regards to verbal.
thnx

Hard Verbal Tests are very challenging to create. It is also even harder to measure their success and feedback since 2 answers could be seemingly correct and very slight differences determine the correct reply. As the story with most other test providers - we have not been able to please the audience. For the future, I think we won't attempt to create verbal tests again - we tried to have a run with a few test writers but it always sparked big discussions.

If you are looking for fantastic verbal tests - I don't think they exist based on what I have heard around here

Have to say GMAT Club Quant tests are awesome!!! Verbals are good too, though some reading comp passages seemed kind of too easy to me.

Take the free test (let me know if you need another one opened up) and see how it feels.
These tests are treacherous and are designed to give you a run for your money, so as long as you learn from your beating - it's a great tool. However, if you need compliments about your progress to keep you going, probably not the best idea :)
