GMAT Club Tests (Difficulty)....? [#permalink] New post 29 Mar 2008, 13:39
I took the gmat almost a month ago a scored a brutal 580 without much studying. I've been working on my Quant skills for the 30 days since that exam, and have done 12 of the GMAT Club Quant exams. Is it normal that I am absolutely getting killed by these exams? I'm scoring approx 12-20/37. Doesn't seem like I'm improving either

Just how difficult are they comparatively?

How did you do on the GMAT quant portion.

I have been getting around the 15th percentile throughout the Club Quant exams... and am getting really worried.

Q50-95th%

The challenges are really tough. You may want to review the basics first and then try taking the challenges. Do you keep an error log? Also, trying doing some warm-up questions before doing the challenges.

well the objective shouldn't be to do well on the math challenge. The objective should be to learn how to solve such problems. If you haven't been doing well, then the challenges should be your opportunity to learn how to solve such problems. Once you learn and understand how to solve such problems, then you should be more than ready for the real exam. So don't use the challenges as a way to predict your real perfomance.

Agreed. Keep in mind most of the questions I saw on the GMAT weren't overly difficult. I only had one probability question and one combined rates problem. It's much more important to learn the basics and figure out why you are missing problems, then to worry about your Challenge scores. Those scores are just a frame of reference.
