Let's work together as a community to create world's best GMAT Diagnostic test by creating, refining, and improving diagnostic questions.

We have started this project with the Quant section to help GMAT test takers understand their weaknesses better. The test is free - please take it. If you have any questions or suggestions - post them here. Also, the idea of the test is to improve it based on the feedback of the community - here is how you can share your thoughts: 1. Take the questions in the forum and make sure you are using the timer so the difficulty is accurately established 2. Provide verbal feedback by replying to this thread 3. Suggest question types to be included in this test - please provide examples if possible (we'll take care of creating the questions) 4. Finally - get others to take this test and provide their feedback

Index of Diagnostic Test Questions, Explanations, and Discussions:

How to use the Diagnostic Test - The Diagnostic Test is setup to allow you to test you as thoroughly or as quickly as you would prefer. The questions are arranged in sections in an increasing difficulty order - the first question is always 600-650 level, mid question is 700 level, and the last question is 750 level. If you are in a hurry, you can take either all easy or medium, or all hard questions only. Instead of 45 questions, you can only take 15 and leave the rest for later.

Taking the test You should spend a maximum of 90 minutes answering 45 questions or if you are taking fewer then plan to spend on average 2 minutes per question

Where are the questions from? The questions have been developed by very experienced and high scoring GMAT Club members

Are the questions copyrighted? Yes, but you can post and distribute them to benefit other test takers - please give credit to GMATClub for the hard work our members put into this test

Thank your guys for this great resource. Noticed the following problems when I tried it (12/24/2012):

1. Take test online link does not work. 2. Typo on question 16 , option 1. should be "Set T" instead of "Set S". 3. Missing solution to Question 21 (link does not work). 4. Question 33. It would help if the question stated that mixture consisted "only" of chestnuts and walnuts. Otherwise drawing the inference Y=1-X (as should be used in order to get to a solution) does not seem intuitive.

GMAT Club math questions are harder than those appearing on the GMAT, so usually students spend more than 2 minutes on solving them.

I got 10/15 on the lower level, 11/15 on the medium level, and 9/15 on the upper level. This was pretty tough - I got 30/45 total, and only got 10 of the last 21 correct. Not sure if I was tired or just bad at those topics.

I took the official GMAT practice exam and got a 740 - 48Q and 44V. But I got smoked on this exam. Are there any materials to analyze this exam on this site? I looked around but it's a bit confusing.

Dear Gmatclub members,

Could you please confirm if one should take this test "before reading all the material" or "post reading all the material" . Since the name is a diagnostic test, I am assuming, one should take it before one starts preparing. But, if its not the case, i don't want to take the test and get disappointed by looking at poor scores!

I'd still suggest to take diagnostic test to know your weak areas, then to go through basics and finally to take other GMAT Club tests.

First of all thanks BB and others for this wonderful test. Really Hats off to all the guys!! After totally out of touch from studies for last 5-6 years, I took this practice diagnostic test and as expected got only 20 out of 45. Took around 2mins 45 secs for each questions ( used the timer downloaded from gmatclub). I am planning to appear for the actual test by end of this year (dec '13).

My first basic silly question : Do I really have any chance to achieve a target of 650-700? Another question is what should be my approach, brush up the basics of quant & and then try another time for the same test and analyze my performance or take some other diagnostic test (from gmat club)? Experts please guide. Thanks once again !!

Thanks for the awesome post. Q 12 of d01 of the online version (it is different from pdf version)

Quote:

If x= 4th root(x^3 + 6x^2) , then the sum of all possible solutions for x is:

a) -2 b) 0 c) 1 d) 3 e) 5

According to me, the answer should be c. But, OA is d.

The explanation says, x cannot be negative, because even with a negative value of x, the equality holds. Moreover, the question is talking about all possible solutions of x, not just real solutions.

No, C is not correct.

If you substitute x=-2 the equation will NOT hold true. Also, note that ALL numbers used on the GMAT are real numbers.

great tool!

I believe question 8 is incorrect. It seems as if the question has been updated but not the answer and link in the excel-file. Shouldn´t it be: A --> 7/11 = 0,63636363

Thanks, let me update the spreadsheet/links. It seems we have lost a version as they seemed to have been updated.

Thank you. I have been working on the diag test this morning/afternoon (and still working on it actually - moving some questions around and rearranging the questions). I think you probably caught me during my update when I messed a few things up
