GMAT Exam [#permalink] New post 17 Dec 2009, 06:30
Hi Guys,

I shall be giving my first GMAT in 4 days. I have been preparing for the past 3 months now.Till date i have gone through the entire OG 11, Kaplan 800, currently the princeton review verbal workout, and bits and pieces of 800 score.

It seems that Q scores have been doing pretty good. In my 5 practice tests, i am getting scores somewhere in the range of 45-48. So Q is not such a problem. Though i still have to improve to get it to 51.

The problem remains is Verbal. I have consistently getting scores in the range of 24-30 in all my tests. The accuracy of these V questions has taken a big time beating. How do i improve my scores to cross the magical figure of 40. I think the problem which still persists is that i am unable to keep up my concentration for a longer period of time. I am unable to detect my weaknesses in any one particular section, be it CR RC or SC. It changes with every tests or practice.

Please help if you guys have any suggestions.

Regards,
The Verbal Whirlpool

SC and CR are easier to improve; so you might focus on those sections. That will help your score upto 35 and should be enough with your q performance.

best.

Hello rishishroff,

I'm not sure what you mean by being "unable" to detect your weakness. In taking practice tests, you should see what problem type(s) is/are dragging your score down.

Once you figure that our, refer to the book review thread to find the book that best addresses that topic.

Hi Guys,

I gave my second GMAT prep today. Got a 590(47Q,24V).

The verbal section initial part is going all awry. I am getting like 10 questions wrong out of the first 20 questions. That is where i am losing all the marks. The accuracy rates sucks..The the story continues..No stability in the verbal section..Will give my Last CAT tomorrow.. The MGMAT free test and see how it goes..Till then analysing my today's test shall be on top priority..
