I have not taken any gmat exam before, so i would like to know if it is true that exam taker needs to choose b-schools to receive the score BEFORE exam begins?
If so, if unluckily getting a low score, there will be no turning back..?
Thanks.

Hi MBA201456,
I'd like to help clarify your questions about this process. Firstly, before the exam starts you can select up to 5 schools to receive your GMAT score. You don't have to select any, but you can select up to 5. The advantage of this is that this costs nothing, but you can still submit your score to other schools for ~30$ per school (at least that's the going rate in Canada).
Now, once you've taken the exam, you do have the option of cancelling your exam before seeing your score, but the cancellation will be noted in your record. You can read the official MBA information here:
https://www.mba.com/the-gmat/gmat-scores ... cores.aspxI'd like to also take a minute to address the issue of students cancelling their scores, as I wrote about this recently. Many students feel like they are not performing well on the GMAT. This is due to the adaptive nature of the test, which ensures that most of the questions you face will be at your level, meaning you will find them pretty difficult. You can also expect to do a fair bit of guessing and answering questions without being 100% sure of your answer. This is the typical experience.
As such, you should consider cancelling your score primarily if you are having a really bad day (not sleeping the night before and falling asleep) or you're very distracted (sick relative, for example). I personally don't see the shame in getting a low score and going back and getting a much better score the next time. That shows perseverance and determination, two qualities highly sought after in business professionals. There's a time and a place to cancel your scores, but it happens more frequently than you'd expect on this test.
