Re: GMAT in 2-3 months... My daily prep diary... [#permalink]

Thanks guys. I am back. My exam is in April (First half). I have taken a date. I will keep everyone posted... Thanks - @ sdas elleesie abhi47 MSoS ashiima shovitdhar I have been busy at work but its now or never. Now work takes a back seat. I can go to business school with some not so good experiences at work (of course calculated risks ) but I cannot got to business school if I dont write GMAT. I have written 3 mocks in the past two weeks - GMATPrep 1 - 710 (Q49,V38)MGMAT 1 - 680 (Q47,V35) - Did not spend enough time on last 5 questions in Quant and 10 questions in Verbal MGMAT 2 - 680 (Q48,V35) - Did not spend enough time on last 5 questions in Quant and 10 questions in Verbal Need to get the timing right... Detailed mock analysis and strategy to follow... But its now or never... that's what I realized

Great to see you back. I sincerely hope that this time around you reach your target now that you will dedicating your full attention on the GMAT. But make sure that you don't burn yourself out studying a lot daily. stick to 4-5 hours per day and you should be good to go!

Buddy, you are already hovering around 700 and you still have two months to go, so i think if you keep the momentum going, surely you will get the desired score. I am also scoring between 690-710 and i have around two more months to go, so let's catch onto a good score. I am varying my places of practice tests( from library to Restaurant to comfortable couch at home), just to make sure i am comfy with new locations...also there are certain good test taking strategies on the forum,I have collected those strategies, so lemme know in case u need. All the best.Regards.

Today's Plan -
Working on weak areas in Quant - Trying 16 and 32 point questions on Grockit Look at MGMAT mocks. See what is wrong from an overall mock perspective (basically Timing strategy) Revise SC (feeling rusty)

@gmatprep2011- If you're looking for timing strategies, look at the 4th video on this site. http://www.gmatprepnow.com/module/gener ... strategiesAlso, MGMAT Roadmap is an excellent book on timing strategies. Although i'm yet to implement them in my real test on 23rd march, i'm feeling confident after implementing them in two tests and getting good scores( 670, 680) in MGMAT tests, which i'm attempting again after resetting them.

10 March 2012 Today's Plan 1. Review questions solved day before yesterday. 2. Use Grockit and work on weakness (Quant) Weakness in Quant - Inequalities Coordinate Geometry Probability and Combinations Algebra (other than inequalities) 3. Solve OG questions for RC - Solve 3 passages (starting with the last passage) - RC accuracy in MGMAT CATs has been around 45%. Need to improve RC accuracy. Not quite confident when I solve RC in CATs. 4. Analyze all questions (4 Quant topics above) in the 3 CATs that I have written (GMATPrep 1, MGMAT 1 and MGMAT 2) MGMAT 3 - Scheduled for 11 March 2012

Now more confident when solving Inequalities and Algebra. Earlier I used to almost give up when I used to see inequalities or Modulus questions. Took PowerPrep 1 (unplanned) - 700 (Q50,V35) - Could have score more but lost focus due to too many repeats. Got a bit irritated. Repeat Questions - I spent more time on these questions. I found them more confusing this time. I think repeat questions take more time because we try and remember the answer and also try and think logically. If the answer from both these methods is not the same, we spend more time on it. Solved three passages from OG - RC accuracy is always high in a non-test environment

11 March 2012 GMATPrep 1 Retake - 720 (Q50,V37)Saw some repeats in the test. Seeing repeats is irritating. Read my previous post. Quant - 5 Questions Verbal - 7 questions (including a tough RC - El Nino, La Nina...) Spent the same time on repeat questions as I would if I saw the question for the first time. I wanted to work on my timing strategy and in this test I was able to pace myself well. Skipped 3-4 questions in verbal when I realized I was off target by more than 2 minutes. Next weekend, I will take MGMAT 3 and 4. Need to analyze the test now.
