GMAT Limited Summer Test - Share your experience [#permalink] New post 20 Jul 2005, 13:59
Friends:

Please share your experience, if you one of them who have taken the GMAT beta trail, administered by Pearson VUE.

The GMAT beta trail (limited summer time offer) can be found in:
http://www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT/Limi ... erTest.htm

Upon reading an article in Princeton Review's website(http://www.princetonreview.com/mba/testprep/testprep.asp?TPRPAGE=830&type=GMAT-LEARN) about the changes in the way the test is administered, I am intrigued to hear from those who have taken the test.

The Princeton article says, "Test takers will no longer be given scratch paper and pencils to work out problems. Instead, each test taker will have an erasable tablet - a white board, essentially. The tablets are approximately the size of a sheet of paper."

Have you encountered any such changes? Please share your experiences and thoughts.

I tried to download it numerous times, but it did not work. I have heard that it is a bit different from the PP and that new questions are included.

sastal:
What do you mean? I am talking about the real GMAT administered by Pearson not by ETS.

Those who participate in GMAT administered by Pearson are eligible for refunds ($250 or so). This offer ends in August.

Are you one of them who have taken real GMAT administered by Pearson?

Clarification [#permalink] New post 21 Jul 2005, 21:24

I thought the address above was for the limited PowerPrep "summer" edition, now available for download from Pearson. I just finished putting it to my hard drive. Someone I know suggested I try it for extra practice. I plan on taking the first one later today. Am I missing something? As for the trial test by Pearson, I do not plan to participate in it. Cheers,

My intention for opening this thread is not about "free practice tests." It is about the real GMAT that should be taken in Pearson testing centers across the globe.

Anyway, there is no harm in discussing about free practice tests. Tell us how they went once you've finished.

Summer PP1 [#permalink] New post 22 Jul 2005, 22:34
I am sorry to take time from the true purpose of this thread.

Finally, a PowerPrep that has four passages, just like the real thing (I don't recall the "classic" ones having more than three)! I found the problems to be of comparable difficulty to those on prior CAT tests. There were only two (one for sure) problems from the guide, which made for a refreshing experience. The verbal section starts off with two CRs (one bold), then RC, then CR again, then another RC, and only by question eight or so did I see the first SC. For all you math wizzes, do not expect 800-level probability questions on this. However, I did have a couple of time-consuming problems. The test's font and screen colors are different, which sort of surprised me. All in all, the practice exam just made me more confused as to how these tests are graded. I did not perform too well on the math, yet got a higher score on the section than I typically do on paper tests, where my hit rate is high due to the easier problems. The total score was within the 600 range, but I will keep the numerical details for another post. For those in search of more good practice, I suggest downloading these while they are still around. There is nothing better than a fresh PowerPrep on a hot summer day! :cool

Once again, I apologize for diverting your thread.
