GMAT need: 670 GMAT want: 700+ [#permalink] New post 31 Mar 2010, 16:52
I'm 1 month into my preparation of the GMAT exam. I have thus far focused my efforts entirely on the quantitative section. A few days ago I took the GMAT Prep exam and scored a 550. The breakdown was 37Q 28V. I have since taken the quantitative portion a second time because I was disappointed with my score. The second score on the quantitative was a 45. Regardless, I know I have much to work on if I want to hit my target of 700+.

My goal is to attend the Master in Professional Accounting program at The University of Texas at Austin. The average GMAT of the 2010 class was 667. The average undergraduate GPA was 3.78. My GPA was 3.9 so I am good on that part.

Study Materials I currently have:
1. OG 12, OG Quant, OG Verbal
2. Kaplan Math Workbook.

Study Materials on the way:
1. MGMAT strategy guides (complete set of 8)

I also plan to purchase the GMAT Club tests the site offers. If I find I need a little extra something then I will get into a program like Knewton or Kaplan Classroom.

I hope to be ready for the exam in June or July which will bring my total study time to 4-5 months. I have studied 2-3 hours each day and plan to continue those hours up until I am ready for the exam. I know the road ahead will be tough, but I am as motivated as can be. Failure is not an option. It really is Univ. of TX or bust. If I score a 670+ and don't get accepted then I will live with that. If I get the number and get turned down then at least I put it all on the line and did everything I could. I'm taking my preparation to a whole different level right now. I want to score a 700+ and leave no doubt. Nothing half ass. I plan to stir it up!
