Starting my gmat prep now with the aim of applying next year. If all goes to plan want to get my first GMAT test done by December this year giving me plenty of time for a retake. Just had a few questions:
- its been a while since I've done maths outside of excel and so was going to start with the Foundations of GMAT Maths book. How long should i be spending on this? As long as required or should i am for 1 month with about 10hrs study per week?
- A lot of the study plans here suggest you should do maths and then verbal or the other way around. Is there any reason you can't study both at the same time? Ie. should i just start the verbal study while I'm going through the maths foundations books?

You can study both verbal and quant at the same time as long as you can comfortably grasp and internalize the concepts. As you have just started to work on quant, Foundations of GMAT Maths will be ideal for you and you will be able to finish it within a month's time. But, a year is too long to prepare for GMAT. As GMAT is a skill based test, a concentrated study for three to four months is recommended. You need to build a momentum and continue it till the time you take the test. So, suppose you have 9 months for your GMAT then I will suggest that you study at a comfortable pace and understand all the basic concepts in the first 6months, then do extensive study/ practice in the next three months. In terms of studying timeframe - completely agree with the comment around not spending too much time. While I will apply next year, I was planning on just taking the GMAT by November /December this year....so will spend a month or two on the foundations stuff and then will study intensively for the next few 3-4 months.
