This post was
BOOKMARKED
Target Test Prep.

I have only read testimonials from the actual Target Test Prep website and I was hoping to get some independent opinions. I really need formal help with the GMAT.

Thanks in advance for any constructive feedback.

I wrote one of those testimonials!

I usually don't bother with reviews or testimonials but I was very pleased with the experience and results (Q 46 --> 48 when improving on Q seemed impossible at the time).

I only engaged TTP for Quant tutoring (and I found them on Craigslist believe it or not...). My tutor was Jeff and we met over Skype and WebEx. After my first exam sitting, I was at a plateau - the subjects I was struggling with didn't see any improvement until I started working with Jeff @ TTP. They also have this book that I was given access to in a platform that reminded me of Dropbox. The book was a little rough (a few typos here and there) but they're working on getting it ready for publishing. The "eBook", if you will, was really great in leading me through a logical sequence of steps to mastering each quant topic.

What I learned most from TTP was Number Theory. I was never taught this (despite taking math courses through Calc II) and though it is not terribly difficult to understand, it was completely foreign before they took me through the paces.

I would recommend giving them a call - don't be put off by the somewhat cheesy website... and don't tell Jeff I called his website cheesy...

Hi nsspaz151,
Just need to know a little about target test prep and jeff. How was the quant part teaching and how many hours it took you to complete the quant. Also did you take GMAT before taking TTP classes or this was you first attempt?

Thanks in advance.

Well now about a year has passed since I was working with TTP so things may have changed. The arrangement Jeff and I had involved me doing "homework" in their book and coming up with questions on problems with which I had difficulties. I did not go through the entire quant book, just the parts on which I needed to improve (number theory, combinations, etc.). I took GMAT once before TTP and once after. Quant before was 46 and improved to 48 after about 3 weeks of prep between exams (nights & weekends) and I think about 6 or 7 1.5 hours sessions with Jeff. Hope that helps.
