The first statement by itself doesnt tell you anything cos there is no numerical value given. Likewise with the second statement.

When taken together,
we have

x5=x4/2

and

x5=x4/(x4+1)

from the two statements, we get the value of x4. Once we have the value of x4, use statement 1 to work backwards to get x1.

Therefore, C is the answer.
