gmat prep - practice test 1 - score 640, d-day in 2 weeks [#permalink] New post 21 Aug 2011, 09:56
Hi,

Yesterday took first practice test in gmat prep. Got a score of 640 with Q49 (out 37, 13 incorrect) and V28 (Out of 41, 17 incorrect). I haven't yet started my Verbal preparation in full speed. Kept it for the last, so that the learning will remain fresh in mind.

Now planning to prepare SC, CR and RC in the next 1 week, and then giving again the practice test. Thinking of using the strategy mentioned here (gmatclub. com/forum/verbal-need-to-strategise-119211.html#p963913)

Please let me know if something else I can do which can help me in better preparation of verbal section.

Since you have not done much prep for verbal, what you have is currently a good "starting point". Once you get through those books, take another practice test and determine what subsections you need the most improvement on (your score is only as good as your weakest subsection). At that point, more specific books/problem sets will become useful.

Thanks,

Hey, i think it's a good score without much verbal practice. For verbal practice i think most important is the strategy. Specially RC. Experiment with what method works for you and see how it goes. For me reading whole passage 1 time and making a tree diagram works.

Btw when are you planning to give exam?

Hi all

I have given gmat prep -1 test yesterday and got 640(Quant-44[13 wrong],verbal-34[17 wrong]) .
I have studied for three months ,i am planning to give GMAT this january ,i have som close to two months to improve.
Is improving this score to 700+ is going to be too tougher ? I think i can improve my quant as most of the topics didn't revise before exam .

Also how realistic are these gmat prep tests? now that i have given this test twice ( i know most of the questions answer , when i gave this test first time two months ago i scores 440 ) giving it again means i will be knowing the answers .

so is it advised to give these test again ?

Thanks
Neha

GMAT Forum Moderator,

I just wanted to touch on one point regarding the Verbal section. I am not able to manage my time. Any tips?
