Hello
thanks paul for that note. Here is something i want to add.
I am tutoring a couple of students for GMAT and they too have the tendency to keep 'scores'. Its absolutely normal to do so, but it does not mean anything. I kept scores too. But the last thing you want to do is to rely on statistics to tell you how you are doing. Your focus should be on learning, not on getting questions right. Getting questions right does not mean you understand the question every single time. Getting questions wrong does not necessarily mean that you are doing something really wrong. See the difference? There is always a learning curve (and a pretty steep curve at that) and no matter how big a genius you or I are, we are going to make errors. The idea is to learn and not make errors again and again.
If we can measure something, we can atleast try to control it.
What are you learning from your prep?
Is there a way you can see yourself improving?
Are you making mistakes you could easily avoid?
For Math,
OG / Kaplan / Math forum on the Club / Math Challenges
For Verbal
The Official LSAT Superprep ( this has 3 tests with full explanations)
The Official Guide ( Good for Sentence Correction)
GMAT Verbal forum
Official LSAT tests ( answers are given, but no explanations)
Be very very careful what material you use for CR and RC. Even with SC, be careful first to completely understand
OG SC's and only then, you should go fishing for other stuff.
Just something i want to add:
Dont ride that wave of 'temporary success' and 'temporary failure' in your prep. Dont be killing yourself analyzing why you got 7/10 right on monday and just 3/10 right on the following friday... it just does not work..Instead of learning from each question, we try to ride that wave of 'temporary success' and 'temporary failure'. it does not matter even if you get 800/800 on all your practise tests.
You need to measure performance. To measure performance, you need to track and analyze it. To track and analyze, you need to record it in a good form. This needs hard work and discipline. ready for it yet?
Hope it helps
