MUST Have Books for GMAT Takers:

1. The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition
2. The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review, 2nd Edition
3. The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review, 2nd Edition.

Suggestion: These books published by GMAC; GMAT Test taking authority contains REAL GMAT Questions which are now retired. So don't waste these questions before going through other preparation materials. Use these questions to practice after you have attained some skills.

Books for Preliminary Preparation Stage:

1. Kaplan GMAT 2012 Premier with CD-ROM (Kaplan Gmat Premier Live)
2. Cracking the GMAT with DVD, 2011 Edition (Graduate School Test Preparation)

Suggestion: These are 2 basic books for GMAT preparation. In these 2 books you will be introduced with all the question types in GMAT Exam and how to approach them to solve. These books are not in depth books. So one must use math and verbal workbooks to practice on problems; sold separately by both of the publishing houses.

Highly Recommended other GMAT Preparation Books:

GMAT Preparation books by Nova

1. Nova's GMAT Prep Course
2. GMAT Math Prep Course
3. GMAT Data Sufficiency Prep Course

Suggestions: You will find Nova's GMAT preparation books helpful if you are looking for more quantitative practice and challenge. Difficulty level of the questions have not been mentioned in the chapters. So you may find some questions very easy and some very tough. Quantitative contents overlaps in these 3 books. Nova's Data Sufficiency book is the only book available with extensive review to deal the Data Sufficiency problems. It might be a better buying option.

At the very least, you deserve praise for presentation and enthusiasm. Kudos!

There are a number of books here that cover the same ground, though . . .
