GMAT Score 650...What are my chances? [#permalink] New post 12 Dec 2005, 22:30
Hi!
I’ve taken GMAT two days back and am quite disappointed with the score. Please let me know your opinion whether I stand any chance to the schools I am targeting:- ISB-Hyderabad, INSEAD , Darden, Texas-Austin, Carnegie Mellon-Tepper, Kellog

GMAT Score: 650 (quant-50, verbal-28)
Details : Male, 27 yrs, Indian

IT Work Ex- 5 yrs (Last 3 years in Tata Consultancy Services with last 1 year in USA, 1 Year in LG Soft India)

Education: I’ve done a 4 yr Engineering degree in Computer Science with 73.2% marks. Gold Medalist in Final Year

Based on the above, please let me know whether
- Retaking GMAT is essential
- my profile is ok for my target schools or I need to look at other options?

Thanks

REtaking the GMAT is essentail to your competitiveness at all the schools with the possible exception of UT. Other than the GMAT your profile appears competitive, albeit unexceptional, for the schools you are aiming for. I hope the details you include in yoru app will distinguish you.

Good luck!

Hi Linda,
Thanks for your reply.
This year, I have applied to :
ISB - Hyderabad, Darden - Virginia, Texas - Austin, Ohio - Fisher, University of Minnesota - Carlson till now.
I am waiting for reply from all of them.
In the mean time, I have received my AWA score 5.0.
I also gave TOEFL-iBT and got score as 100/120 with (R-25,S-23,L-27,W-25). Can that be of any help to compensate on my low verbal score of GMAT?
I have worked hard on my essays. My current Project Leader and Technical Architect (from Client) have given me recommendations.

To ellaborate more on my profile:
Age: 27
Sex: Male
Nationality: Indian
Education: I’ve done a 4 yr Engineering degree in Computer Science with 73.2% marks. Gold Medalist in Final Year
GMAT:650 (quant-50, verbal-28, AWA-5)

IT Work Ex- More than 5 yrs (Last 3.2 years in Tata Consultancy Services with last 1 year in USA, 1 Year in LG Soft India). Currently working as Technical leader, handling three projects for Deluxe corporation, Minneapolis, USA

Other Achievements:
• 2nd Prize in Wellness & Fitness Challenge Competition at Deluxe Corporation , Minneapolis
•Certificate of Recognition for TACTiCS (Technical Architect Configuration at TCS, Hyderabad)
•Rated 5 on the scale of 5 in Annual Appraisal in April 2004
•Rated 5 on the scale of 5 in Confirmation rating in December 2003

With your current score, you would have a competitive chance at Texas - Austin, Ohio - Fisher, University of Minnesota - Carlson, and Vanderbilt.

Good luck!
