GMAT Score :
IR : 2 (12%)
Quant : 35 (32%)
Verbal : 32 (66%)
Total 560 (47%)
I bought exam pack 2 and took 1 exam (realistic conditions) and scored 610 with 44% in quant. This is why this is a severe letdown because its my 3rd try and I need 45% + to get into my MS Accounting program Baruch College. Deadline for application is June 1st. I studied for 2 months for this. I need advice.
Hi sagnik242,
You scores show a clear lack of understanding of fundamentals.
You have close to 2 months to improve your score. You need to follow a preparatory course/book and then solve the questions related to those topics. Solving the official questions is a very important part of your preparation and make sure you solve as many as you can get your hands on.
The next important part is the
error log. It makes sure that you do not repeat the same mistake.
By now you must have identified your weak areas. Try to focus specifically on those areas in your preparation this time around.
You can keep the following things in mind while preparing.
SC: The questions test various concepts such as S-V agreement, modifiers, parallelism etc. Find out what troubles you.
CR: There might be certain types of questions that are troubling you. May be Assumption, may be conclusion, inference etc.
You need to find that out and then practice them
RC: This again can be drilled down into different types of questions and also different topics. See what questions and topics trouble you the most and then practice accordingly.
As an addition, start preparing an
error log and keep a note of all the mistakes you made and the lessons you learnt from the problems. This will ensure you do not make the same mistake again.
Make sure that you go through the entire preparatory course/book you have been following and if possible try to change your mode of study.
You can chose one from the following:
1. In person classes/private tutoring
2. Online classes
3. Self paced online preparatory course
4. Book heavy approach
Most of the preparatory companies offer a free trial. You can use it and see which course suits your needs.
